Valley Center Drive…engineered for reliable service
The Valley Center Drive is built stronger, lasts longer and uses less energy than other irrigation drive motors. The standard-speed motor has the lowest power requirements in the industry. The high-speed motor has a nine-hour rotation. Valley Center Drives are designed for easy maintenance in the field.
Center Drive Features | Center Drive Benefits |
Steel gears | Provide more strength than powdered metal |
Aluminum finned housing | Runs 20º F cooler for a longer motor life. No paint to chip, scratch or corrode |
Internally vented junction box | Prevents moisture and contaminants from corroding the wire connections |
Crop guard | Protects shaft seals for extended life |
Integral pinion gear | Eliminates coupler, improves reliability |
Helical gears | More tooth contact than spur gears, providing more torque capacity and quieter operation |
Special motor windings for high-torque applications | 40% higher operating torque than the competition |
- Large 1 3/16” motor shaft
- Pinion gear — integral with motor shaft
- Extra-large intermediate gear bearings — assure longer life
- 25º tooth angles — provides 40% greater load capacity and wear resistance than other manufacturers’ 14 1/2º tooth angles
- Double output shaft seals
- Built-in crop guard over U-joint — prevents crop wrapping in or near oil seals
- Double reduction gearing — requires fewer gears, shafts and bearings for greater reliability and efficiency
- Stator — can be replaced independent of rotor, and is held in place with corrosion-resistant, stainless steel bolts for easy maintenance
- Extra — large motor bearing
- Exclusive coating — applied to internal surfaces to prevent corrosion
- Watertight seal — between housing components
- Finned aluminum housing — for cool-running efficiency. Operates at temperatures 20° F (11° C) lower than comparable motors with steel housing, because the Valley aluminum housing and fins dissipate heat more effectively. This doubles insulation life and increases motor life
- Case-hardened steel helical gears — more teeth meshed at all times for smoother power transmission.
- Drain plug — easily accessible, extra large

VS-7000 Drive Train is Now Available
The VS-7000 drive train is a lower priced option on the 7000 series pivots. VS stands for Valley Specified performance. The VS-7000 will provide a substantial savings per drive unit. It is important to note that the VS-7000 and Valley drive trains cannot be mixed on a given pivot. The first span selection determines which drive train choice must be used for the entire machine.
The VS-7000 drive train consists of:
• New 34 RPM & 68 RPM center drive assemblies
– .6 HP or 1.2 HP Baldor motor with a corrosion resistant painted steel housing
– Current Omni helical center drive gearbox
– Same amp draw as current Valley helical center drives
– Same torque rating as current Valley helical center drives
– Assembled and tested at McCook
• New wheel gearboxes
– Front and rear individual input worms (not dual input)
– Mounting is the same as Valley gearboxes
– Ductile worm and cast iron bull gear for longer life
– Made in China by Omni to Valley specifications
VS-7000 Warranty
• Six (6) years or 6000 hours, whichever comes first
– Parts, labor and travel same as Valley gearbox
